Last week the stewardship minute message highlighted the 21st century transformation of the Christian church occurring at the global level, the national level and within individual congregations.
The Christian church has been in perpetual transition over time, and this congregation has been a part of that.
At the Hamilton conference in May, six former Moderators of the United Church addressed the present challenges of our denomination.
They were unanimous; this is not a time for criticism or spiralling downward diagnoses.
This is a time of opportunity, of innovation, hope and promise, and a time for visions of what can be.
The moderator has suggested we re-focus our energy from how to fill empty pews to serving those in need in the community around us…. to extend welcoming worship and genuine hospitality.
Mahatma Gandhi said “we must be the change we wish to see in the world”.
Trinity’s mission states “we are a vibrant community of faith that worships God and seeks to be the voice and hands of Christ in downtown Kitchener and beyond”.
The Four Churches Project and the dialogues of the local Co-operating
Congregations are two projects that embrace the future with visions for further transition.
In the words of Isaiah, “ When young people see visions, the dreams of old people come true”.
What Trinity will do in the next year, 2008, will be determined by our vision and our capacity and capabilities determined through your gifts.
Please join our Celebration of Stewardship at noon on Sunday November 18th
and sign up for the luncheon in the Access or the Fellowship Hall.
