Week 1 Minute Message: A Time to Celebrate…TRANSITIONS

All around us are the signs of autumn. The beautiful fall colours and cooler temperatures remind us of the transition to winter. Summer makes a transition to autumn and autumn makes a transition to winter. Climate change, global warming and industrial pollution have made us all aware of the fragility of mother earth and her environment.

We are caretakers and stewards of God’s good gifts. These gifts include our own very lives, the earth, water, air, and all living things. Here at Trinity we are beginning a special stewardship focus. We invite you into a five-week Celebrate Stewardship Program, building up to our Celebration Sunday service and luncheon on November 18th.

The theme of the year’s Celebrate Stewardship is Transitions. The insert in today’s bulletin highlights transitions in the global church, transitions in the United Church of Canada and transitions in our own lives.

The challenge is to be willing to work in new and unfamiliar ways.

This congregation, and worship in this sanctuary, have undergone transitions over the years. These transitions have been especially numerous in recent years with changes in staff, changes in communication, changes in membership and changes in the community around us.

Trinity’s Mission Statement states that were are the voice and hands of Christ in downtown Kitchener and beyond. With rapid change around us and within this congregation we need to ask ourselves,” What is God calling us to do?”

As we shift our vision to the present time, we also re-examine our stewardship- how we return to God a portion of our time, our financial resources, and our talent.

In the coming weeks all of Trinity’s ministries will be highlighted here. You will be invited to be a part of these ministries. We will all have the opportunity to express our response to God’s love and grace by community to support the ministries of this congregation.

Please remember the Stewardship lunch following worship on Sunday, November 18th
