From the Joint Search Committee – an announcement made May 6. "I am here today on behalf of the Joint Search Committee along with fellow members Gabriel Almada, Chris Fraser, Paul Gilmore, Dave Rutherford, Dennis Watson, Myrta Rivera and co-chair Ann Dube. Earlier we invited two consultants to join our committee, Jennifer Spaulding and Mark Breathwaite. Our presbytery representatives are Marilyn Shaw and Katharine Edmonstone. So, I come to you today with excitement to announce the placement of Desmond Jagger-Parsons to fill Trinity's second vacancy as of July 1, 2007. Although we had withdrawn from Settlement we were invited to rejoin and interview a person that was felt to be a perfect match for Trinity and indeed this was right. He more than fills the Joint Needs Assessment Committee's recommendations with regards to: Ministry of Outreach, (currently he is with Kairos: Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives as coordinator for Middle East Partnerships as well as being Student Supply Minister for Riverdale United Church in Toronto); Ministry of Christian Education; Ministry of Pastoral Care and much more. Before his recent completion of the Master of Divinity degree at Emmanuel College, Toronto, he practiced law for 7 years in Newfoundland. Among his many legal activities he served as a Crown Attorney and as Legislative Counsel and Assistant Clerk of the Newfoundland House of Assembly. During that time he also had many leadership roles in his home church including confirmation class instructor and Sunday School Co-coordinator. In his mid to late thirties he is in the age group focus of the "Emerging Spirit" programme. He will start with us part time until the end of the year and then will become full time after that. This is unusual but has to do with his commitment to Kairos which ends at that time." – Nancy Smale: co-chair
